Located in Sleaford in the UK, Great Plains UK Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Great Plains Mfg., Inc based in Salina, Kansas, USA.

The acquisition of Simba International by Great Plains in April 2010 brought together the product innovation, expertise, experience and knowledge of two of the world's leading brands in tillage and drilling equipment.

The company’s ethos of quality extends way beyond product development and manufacture. Expert technical advice based on many years of experience together with dependable parts and service have also been key in building the company’s reputation for outstanding dealer support and customer care.

Great Plains – A Proud History

Great Plains was founded in 1976 by Roy Applequist.  It manufactures a broad line of products including implements, grain drills, air seeders, planters, trailed sprayers and, out of the company’s Land Pride division, compact tractor implements and zero-turn self-propelled mowers.

The company employs approximately 1,500 people, has a total of more than 1 million square feet of modern manufacturing facilities across 8 separate central Kansas sites, operates its own finance division, and runs a fleet of 70 trucks and 100 trailers.

Great Plains has a very strong dealer network across North America and has enjoyed growing success overseas through the Great Plains International division. In recent years, Eastern Europe has become a strong market with sales and service locations established in Ukraine, Southern Russia and Bulgaria.

The Simba Heritage

Simba started in 1976 when the founder Keith Burton identified a growing market for equipment to suit large (300hp+) tractors entering the UK, having spent 25 years farming in Africa (Simba is Swahili for lion).

Development of the company in the UK was rapid, and its products soon gained a strong reputation within the market place, particularly with professional farmers who were often involved with development work.

Exports made an increasingly important contribution to the company’s success, and strong markets were established in Europe, the Middle East, North America and as far afield as Australia and New Zealand. By 2005 Simba was a major force in the tillage equipment market, both nationally and internationally.

A commitment to meeting the changing needs of arable farmers throughout the UK and Europe has driven the ongoing development of products that are synonymous with superb build-quality and innovative design.
